Okay, so I’m trying to get into the LJ and MB games, I’m used to AIM, IRC, and IRL games.

I got a character, I describe the character in decent detail, I then can’t find a person to be the PB. I have this issue. I get some offers to help. “Help” is not “Finding some one of the wrong gender.” Nor is it “Shoving some one in my face and telling me to rewrite the description to match.”

I’m joining the groups that hate PBs because of this. “You must have a PB that matches your description” is getting insane. Why this rule when you can't help?

Book review

I'm copying ND, so there. Nyah.

Anyways I just finished Godwalker by Greg Stolze.

Okay, the book kicks off with the first person to have the Male to Female surgery dying and a bunch of weirdos talking to her. This is fine, if you know the setting you know what’s going on. A bunch of Godwalker wannabes are trying to claim the title easily.

The winner is The Freak, and you know this too if you know the material.

Then it drops The Freak’s past completely. The Prologue doesn’t set up anything, nothing ties back to it, and it makes no sense in context of the novel. Come on, if we are buying this we are fans. This was unneeded.

Then it gets kicking with mind games. Trying to be sly about what’s going on and what powers the major characters have. Let me say this again, we are fans. I figured out who was what by the names of the NPCs alone. Don’t try this double speak, I mean I guess it fits with the Mystic Hermaphadite, but honestly, we figured out the cross dress is trying to channel this. Mom and Dad who talk about taking big risks for mojo are Body Bags and Joe Average over there doesn’t know anything about the underground.

The plot, as it is, is The Freak is the Godwalker for the Mystic Hermaphadite. 20some years ago two Entropomancers (they mess with chaos yo) decided to have a kid that would be genetically the perfect Godwalker for this archetype and over throw The Freak. Only the kid got switched at birth, so they have been training the wrong boy. Lolz. They decide to find the real kid and inform him, just as every one else does about the same.

The Mystic Hermaphadite’s taboo is committing to any one thing. It must always be conflicted and conflicting. My main issue is The Freak is VERY focused in the novel till the end where it goes “Oh, plot says I stop now.” It should have been tabooed 10 or 20 times. That alone irks me.

Not only that but we don’t know why Joe Average is the perfect Mystic Hermaphadite, the reader is kept in the dark about this till the end of the novel where the VAST EXPLANATION OF GREAT EXPLAINING happens. At the end of this you go “umm.. yeah you lost me and the “clues” you cite suck.” Basicly, the kid is the male version of fraternal twins and absorbed his sister before they were born. Thus has both life and death and male and female in him. CLEVER AIN’T IT?

I’m not even going to write about the unneeded sex scene. It seems the author though that love needed sex. Oh look, they could have made up in a much more romantic way and were till the sex was forced.

Getting back on topic here, breaking the game world rules… The two mages gain a major charge in the novel. One of them dying in order to get it. Major charges are to be uber awesome thing that shake the foundations of reality. My problem here is the major charge is used for WAY too many things. No one of them would be a major in and of itself, but the sheer amount and vast difference in what it’s used for just breaks the rules laid out. Considering the author of the book is the cofounder of the system the book is written for… well this is a major crime.

I wish the book gave me more insight into Unknown Armies. It didn’t. I wish the book could be handed to new players and have it explain some of the setting. It won’t. I wish the book was an good adventure. It’s not. I wish the book was so bad it’s good in my eyes. It’s bleh. There’s many things this book COULD have been in and fails at all of them.
Type your cut contents here.

In Conclusion: Meh, the book was not bad enough or good enough to make me like it.
I put in to be an Atlas Games Special Ops guy. Basicly, do con demos and such. Volunteer work with Demos. Why did I do this? Because I was on a Unknown Armies kick and saw the ad of them asking people to do it, and then I saw the list of games they wanted people to run and realized I had a love for many of them and owned a good chunk.

So, I'm now looking for game stores in Saint Louis and plotting events. I hope not to do this half assed. I didn't do popcap beta testing half assed (give me something else to test Popcap, please? You've been promising for a while), I don't do my quality assurance job half assed, I don't want this to be one of those things I start and never do well at.

So I'm posting it here as a reminder to myself. Now to find a game store. I need an hour of demoing in before I get a shirt, I want a shirt before Cogcon.

Another no.

Right, Then why the BEEP are you going "OMG BAD GOVERNMENT HATE BUSH HE IS WHY WE ARE GOING TO HELL IN THE HAND BASKET THE ENCOMONY IS SCREWED ALL THE THINGS DONE ARE WRONG OMG OMG OMG OMG WE ARE ALL POOR!" on the -respectable- places that are trying to report economic news WITHOUT such things as doom saying or butt kissing?

I don't have these things either, but I read enough to know that including Food and Gas into the core index is bad. You want to know why? Do you? it's because Social Security Payments are tied to this. So, not only did you propose adding two MAJOR expenses into the index upping it considerably, but two that are growing out of control. Social Security, and we can all agree on this, can't handle what we have already promised let alone doing -that-.

Do you know what it would have ment if the Fed didn't move to lower rates and try to free up liquidity? I don't. I don't know how you do. The best I can bet is bank closings, causing the insurance to kick in making the Fed pay out more money driving us deeper into debt. Looking over that it seems like a DEAL to just bail out a few with a meager million or five.

The war is costing too much, I agree, wars do. But you know what ELSE wars do? Char gen is cancled and the game won't be run. Five minutes later the late person shows up, but it's too late now. That game idea is offically dead. Next week there will be char gen for his next new idea.

I am deeply concerned for my sanity.

I like frappaccino. I like java chip. I don't like starbucks but they can't make it so sucky for free not to be worth it. RIGHT?

Stupidity your name is CCD.

First up is you're making a coffee with chunks in it, like java chips, you want the chips small enough to get through the straw. This is NOT the case.

Second of all if some one has a free coupon the purpose is to get them to come back. You shouldn't look at them and treat them like dog poop on your new shoes.

Third of are dear starbucks person. You are working in a coffee shop. Your response to "Does the Chammeal Blend really test like peppers?" should NOT be "It's coffe. It's all coffee. It's exactly the same."

This is being posted to my personal journal because it names names and I don't think BRPS want to hear it. Warning rambling rant of rant and nonsense.

Break the clique up. Last Night, it took me private messaging people to point out I had used THEIR NAME to ask a direct question to be noticed. I have this issue. Some systems like L5R call is an adavantage. I fade into the background. Seg says I need to just keep posting, dear Seg I've been in a real life game with you where it took me SLAMMING MY CANE to get attention from any one but Cyn who put up with over half of an hour of me trying to get attention.

I've tried. I've pointed out. I've asked questions. I've done what I can. I'm ignored. In Hunters I ask Ked questions, get told they aren't important, and then spend 3 hours watching him have fun with those that were in the first hunters game and it means NOTHING to me because I don't "get" it since I wasn't there.

And it doesn't matter because my complaints can be easily ignored. Since I just faaaaaaaaaaade away.

I've tried to enjoy some of these games. And I get told I just need to talk more as I said before. I talk. I post. I get ignored. In WWBHs only Seg, Cyn, and SOMETIMES Robin interact with me. But let another character pull the same emotional strife my characater is going through and the drama train starts up and leaves me behind because I don't matter.

I post in Seg's traditional DnD game, and I get ignored and looked over. It once again takes me private messaging people, even though I've said the same point three or four times. Logs can back me up on this one.

In the Scion game, IRL, it takes me putting my hand up, then sometimes standing up to get attention. I've learned to keep my mouth shut my words carry no weight. And if that doesn't work a pleaful look at Cyn will get him to get attention for me.

I try to get involve in WWBHs and 20 minutes later Seg notices I ask a question, too late for me to jump in.

In Hunters I get told 90% of what is noticed is wrong, because I wasn't in the first game and don't know what is right and Ked wont' tell me.

In HoR unless the GM is pointing at me I need to say something shocking to get notice. This is on Kirema not my Crab.

In X-Crawl I am the bloody GM and still have to beat people up side the head to notice what I wrote.

In Canyons Robin notices me, now if only the players would.

In the D6 game, also in RL, raising my had does nothing. I've kicked the GM a few times, given up, and then started building dice towers till he notices. Two hours later he'll notice I'm still here.

I don't know how to fix this. I'm nothing. I don't get notice. My enjoyment of games is out the window. And I'm ready to just quit them all. Last night just proved to me I don't mater to WWBHs. To those of that game I'm going to talk to Seg into writing Quinton out of the story. I may or may not quit. It depends on if I get noticed.

I don't know how to fix it. I don't know how to enjoy games. I need to say it twice so people see it.

No need to comment, you probably didn't see this anyways. [Yes, I'm being passive agressive.]

Emo = Good Character?

Okay, so I have a very happy carefree character. He sees the silver lining in EVERYTHING, at least on the surface. He goes with the flow, if something is really bad he cries for a moment, picks himself up, dusts off, and goes to party so he doesn't have to deal with it.

He doesn't throw angst fests, he doesn't cry rivers, he doesn't cut himself at night. He has a coping way of doing things that is IMO worse and less trite then those listed.

Tonight, one of his good friends died. He went out, got drunk, headed to a club, and just lived it up, not stopping at all, and then had his little crying fit afterwards in his own home, one small post, before he was back out acting...well not happy but neutral somber.

Every one else is doing full fledged emo drama over it. And I was told by one of the bullet board mods that I wasn't playing a real person because I wasn't joining in the sea of tears.

So who is being bad here?

I...don't understand.

Seriously, I don't understand.

Okay, some kids hung nooses up. That's horrible. It's bad taste, bad thinking, bad..everything. They didn't get tried because it was NOT a crime. It wasn't a hate crime, it wasn't vandalism, it wasn't a crime. I don't care if you THINK it should be considered a crime, I don't care if I THINK it should be a crime, it -was NOT- a crime. Period. That's it. In the books what they did was "legal".

They got suspended, not expelled. Schools don't like expelling kids, yeah it was a slap on the wrist, but you know what the principal and other pushed for the expellsion. That alone tells me the matter was taken some what seriously. It was over all bad taste.

I'd have considered it disapointing if left there. I'd have seen it as some one putting "go home fags' or such...

But then the black kids beat up another white guy that had nothing to do with it.

THIS gets complicated (and before you bitch I'm not using black and white as derogatory terms. Deal with it. If you're offended by that little bit you need to go off and think about what really matters in life) as protest descends on the small town because they are holding the black kids responsable.

Oh I hear the "It's out of propotion", well the origional charges -were- and the judge BEFORE YOU PROTESTED decided to lower them because they were.

But yet most people on the side of the black kids want them off scott free. I'm sorry, they beat some one pretty baddly. It was six kids beating on one. (maybe five on one, according to testamony). The kids deserve a punishment.

Attempted murder is too far but let's call the pot a pot. It was assult and battery, even if the guy had hung the nooses it would be assult and battery but at least I would have more sympothy for the other side.

Dear game reviewers.

Stop it.
Just stop it.

Seriously, you need smacked.

A few months ago I read a review for You Don't Know Jack: The Ride. Yes, this was years outdated, but I was curious. After all, I enjoy the series and I own the game. They couldn't tell me anything I didn't know already. Right?

Where was I when YDKJ took out the animated fully customizable avatars that dance, sang, and argued back at the visable host in full motion video?

YDKJ has -ALWAYS- been the characters 1, 2, and 3 for the three possible players doing small animated and often repeated things.

Today I read a review of Dynasty Warriors: Gundam... it's complaining the mooks are mooks. That the mooks don't do massive horrible damage to you nor do they attack on mass. And that this violates the whole feeling of the series.

Have you PLAYED any other Dynasty Warriors? I can stand still in the middle of mooks and not be attacked because they are MOOKS. I am NOT a mook. I am a character with a NAME. Thus, mooks aren't a threat in that series.

Folks, these reviewers are complaining about things on par with "Oh another mario game and it has stars. Wouldn't it be nice if we collected bottle caps instead of stars?" or making up such facts as "Back on the NES Sonic the Hedgehog had the ability to fly, shoot lasers out of his eyes, and ate babies LIVE IN YOUR LIVING ROOM, why don't we have that holoprojection any more?"

Please, at least play the game series, know what you are talking about, and don't just make things up. I've already lost respect for the movie industry critics because one, just one of them, fully admited to writing a 5 page rant on why Citizen Kane is the worst movie ever, having never seen it. He got exactly two scenes right in his examples. The rest, I've never seen in the movie.
